Sabarimala case: 9 judge bench to decide if SC can refer legal issues in review jurisdiction

In the famous case of Sabarimala temple, the 9 judge Constitution bench has upheld the decision of the Sabarimala Review Bench wherein the can refer to a large bench, considering exercises only limited power, in its jurisdiction in the Sabarimala case.

Due to the several objections raised by senior , the bench headed by S A Bobde has announced on February 10th 2020 that in case of particular judgment, the respective Bench can engage and refer the other questions of law to a larger bench.

The Sabarimala case has been famous for the chief issue of restriction of the entry of women in Sabarimala temple where the High Court of Kerala prohibited the entry of women between 10 and 50 years of age inside the holy shrine of Lord Ayyappa. Non-compliance to these rules would often result in religious fights and an attack on the character of a woman.
